Spiritual Mind Treatment for Coronavirus Condition

These are trying times. I believe that from the depths of the current global crisis a call is being made to each of us to remain steadfast in our faith. This is the time to lean into our foundation of spiritual practice, and to keep in the forefront of our thoughts the awareness that we are expressions of the Divine.

The Life Principle that manifests Itself as each of us is perfect, whole, and complete, and we are made in the image and likeness of that Divine Principle. We have at our command, by Divine birthright, all of the power of God to direct as we choose. We are, each and every one of us, centers of the eternal and infinite Presence within which all things live and move and have their being.

In this current, troubling situation we are, as always, at choice. We can choose fear or we can choose faith. Choosing fear will cause faith to take a back seat to worldly conditions, and will see us being buffeted, bruised, and confused. Choosing faith will allow us to respond sensibly and responsibly to a very real condition with love, compassion, and a continued understanding that our eternal safety and security are guaranteed in God.

I know for each of us, that God is right where we are. There is no place where God is not present, and I know the power of God is greater than any condition, circumstance, or event. This is good news. I know, too, that our individual faith, combined with an orchestrated community faith and a responsible approach to this condition will alleviate the strife many are experiencing. I know, for each of us, “I could see peace instead of this.”

I am grateful to know, in this case as in all cases, God is. God is, and ultimately, all is well. It is with a heart full of gratitude that I release this healing word into the Spiritual Law, knowing it is already done.

Thank you, God. And so it is.

One Life

Human life is a wondrous thing.  There is much beauty to enjoy, much happiness to be had, much love to be shared.  There are also the opposites of these things; some fail to see the beauty and in its place see evil and ugliness, some seldom feel happiness and in its place feel fear, anger and despair, some are unloving or even hateful.

Many of those who feel and express what we call “God qualities” do so only for their own regard, in their own interest, and very often don’t extend those feelings to others outside of themselves or their circle of family and friends.  They, in fact, often deny “outsiders,” or “others” not only the opportunity to experience these qualities but deny that they have the same right to them. This includes many people who consider themselves (and are considered by others) to be religious or spiritual. This is separation.  This is faux spirituality and religiosity. There is One. Only.

Those who have not yet come to understand the Oneness of all things are not truly spiritual. There is no exclusivity in the Divine Mind. God does not recognize one type of person or one type of behavior to be more or less valuable than another.  In fact, God does not recognize anything as separate from the Whole. As Ernest Holmes said, “There is one life. That life is God. That life is perfect. That life is my life (now).” So, when we think or act we are thinking and acting for all.

I cannot wish good for myself without wishing it for all others; nor can I wish harm to another without wishing it for myself.  We are all the Sonship. That we have different experiences and we access the Wholeness to varying degrees does not make us other than One. As Jesus, the master teacher said – “that which you do to the least of your brethren you do to me…” – and by extension, to yourself. We cannot truly love ourselves and love God except by loving all. We are one.

In today’s world there are wars and acts of terrorism, and many and varied examples of man’s inhumanity to man.  Violence generally begets violence and so the unholy circle continues. We fail to see that the person or group that one “side” sees as a terrorist, another side sees as a freedom fighter.

There have been those who have shown the world that non-violence is so much more powerful, yet their lessons are not always fully understood or received and even when they are they seem to have a short shelf life.  When enough people act from the One-self Principle and refuse be part of the thinking that we can hurt others without hurting ourselves, the consciousness of the race will transcend and we’ll love God by loving ourselves.  And we can only love ourselves by loving each other.

Life is an Hour-glass

Friends, life is an hour-glass, the top of which we cannot see; it is being held in trust for us in the divine field of potentialities.  That divine field – call it God, Spirit, Life, Creative Intelligence, or whatever other name appeals to you – issues forth that part of Its contents that we recognize, surrender to, and accept, one grain at a time.  These “grains” come to us in the form of “now” moments – irreplaceable, yet constant in their flow.

It is these now moments that weave the fabric of our lives.  As each “now” moment passes from the unseen into the seen, through that divine thread that connects us eternally and infinitely to the One Source of all things, our world forms around us, and each grain becomes part of our physical self.

From the first grain to the last, they each take their place in the unfoldment of who we are, and the entire potential of that Power and Presence that is God is contained within each grain.

Each “now” moment tumbles into our Earthly vessel – the bottom of the hour-glass – unmanifested and undifferentiated as it arrives, awaiting our creation of it into some part of our dream.

The early grains form the foundation upon which those that come after will build.  The final grains are the culmination; and all those between, when used wisely, passionately, and with intention will build steadily toward our dream’s fulfillment.

But, if we are not present in each “now” moment, how can we direct our growth?  How can we achieve our dream, our desire, if, when the Power and Presence of God is available to us, we are not available to it?

The sages of all eras have echoed the same sentiment – tomorrow is past; its pleasures and its pains cannot be done over.  And the future is not yet here; so our spending time in it will prove fruitless. We can, however, overcome the past and help determine the future by being mindful of the “now.”

“Now” is the only moment we have complete dominion over – “now” is exactly where our humanness intersects with our spiritualness.  “Now” is where life is meant to be lived; where dreams are formed and pursued.

The Man Who Has Arrived

The man who has arrived will realize that he has done so in the midst of an outer confusion; he will be the one who has gone into the silence for strength, and has come out into the world equipped with power from on high; but that light which he has received must be kept burning.

Not alone in the silence but in the busy throng must all of us find the way of life.  Our every thought creates.  For the majority of us these thoughts come in every-day affairs, some of which are very trivial, but these too will be demonstrated.

We have missed the whole point, unless we have learned so to control our thought that time and place make no difference.

– Ernest Holmes, Creative Mind.

*Please note this has been recited with the masculine sense that was prevalent at the time of the original work.

We cannot expect to respond in peaceful, loving ways in the face of adversity if we do not practice peace and love in our daily thoughts on a regular basis.  Our thoughts create, and if our thought process is trained toward love and peace such will be their force and direction under any circumstance.  Much like musicians and athletes practice for peak performance so too must we “practice” the quality of our thinking.  We would not expect to pick up an instrument and deliver a virtuoso performance without having a solid background of practice, nor would we expect to be a star athlete without practice and training.  Likewise, we should not expect our responses to conditions to differ from the training of our thoughts.

Practicing the Presence of peace and love during our quiet waking hours will provide the bedrock that allows those qualities to remain constant and come to the fore when adverse conditions appear.  We can acquiesce to fear and to a hectic world or we can choose peace and love.  “Practice,” as they say, “makes perfect!”

Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.

GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.
