Life is an Hour-glass

Life is like an hour glass

Friends, life is an hour-glass, the top of which we cannot see; it is being held in trust for us in the divine field of potentialities.  That divine field – call it God, Spirit, Life, Creative Intelligence, or whatever other name appeals to you – issues forth that part of Its contents that we recognize, surrender to, and accept, one grain at a time.  These “grains” come to us in the form of “now” moments – irreplaceable, yet constant in their flow.

It is these now moments that weave the fabric of our lives.  As each “now” moment passes from the unseen into the seen, through that divine thread that connects us eternally and infinitely to the One Source of all things, our world forms around us, and each grain becomes part of our physical self.

From the first grain to the last, they each take their place in the unfoldment of who we are, and the entire potential of that Power and Presence that is God is contained within each grain.

Each “now” moment tumbles into our Earthly vessel – the bottom of the hour-glass – unmanifested and undifferentiated as it arrives, awaiting our creation of it into some part of our dream.

The early grains form the foundation upon which those that come after will build.  The final grains are the culmination; and all those between, when used wisely, passionately, and with intention will build steadily toward our dream’s fulfillment.

But, if we are not present in each “now” moment, how can we direct our growth?  How can we achieve our dream, our desire, if, when the Power and Presence of God is available to us, we are not available to it?

The sages of all eras have echoed the same sentiment – tomorrow is past; its pleasures and its pains cannot be done over.  And the future is not yet here; so our spending time in it will prove fruitless. We can, however, overcome the past and help determine the future by being mindful of the “now.”

“Now” is the only moment we have complete dominion over – “now” is exactly where our humanness intersects with our spiritualness.  “Now” is where life is meant to be lived; where dreams are formed and pursued.
